Mission:
We envision a time when HIV-related stigma is non-existent, and everyone is empowered to access HIV care and treatment.
Vision:
Identify and break through barriers to treatment, engagement, and retention in HIV care
Strategy:
Empower individuals to identify and “step out of stigma,” as well as other barriers to care, by participating in artistic and social media initiatives
Who We Are:
TEAR is a diverse group of community members and health professionals passionately dedicated to our mission to increase access to treatment, engagement, and retention in care within New York City and beyond. Workgroup members bring a broad array of personal and professional experience to this work, including over 25 years of experience delivering HIV prevention and care services and conducting research related to HIV prevention and care. The group brings strength in the areas of event planning, fundraising, networking, care management, and work with vulnerable and economically disadvantaged populations including youth, people of trans and gender non-conforming experience, women, serodiscordant couples, immigrants, people who use substances, people with mental illness, and long-term survivors.
