Welcome to the High Impact Prevention and Engagement (HIPE) Workgroup! We are a team of community members advocating for the NYC communities most impacted by HIV, including communities of color, women, gay youth and young adults, people of trans experience, and immigrant populations. We envision a future where we can all live worry-free of HIV. In moving towards this vision, HIPE’s goals are to bridge gaps in access to sexual health education and biomedical interventions aimed at preventing transmission of HIV and eliminating stigma. We approach this work from a resiliency (communities are strong), intersectional (overlapping conditions and social identities), and multi-level (individual to structural) perspective. To this end, HIPE will bring you the latest scoop on the most recent advances in HIV prevention and highlight the major challenges in getting these resources to key populations.

JOIN US!

The HIPE Workgroup meets once a month. We invite you to join! We are a group of people with a passion for social justice and health equity. Collectively, we bring knowledge and skills in the areas of HIV prevention, LGBTQ advocacy, health behavior and health education, research, group facilitation, and project management. You can find us being nerdy at your local coffee shop or acting out at a weekend drag brunch. We’re also street savvy so come explore the city with us!
