Vision: A future where communities dream and drive the policies that directly impact them.

Mission: As the HPG Policy and External Relations (PER) Workgroup, we educate community on policy pertaining to HIV and sexual health, gather community perspectives, and use these to facilitate collaboration, inform future governmental activities, and modify existing ones.

The PER Workgroup focuses on building awareness of proposed city and state legislation, regulations, and other policies relevant to New Yorkers affected by HIV. We view our role as a bridge between city and state governmental agencies and the communities affected by HIV. In an effort to reduce stigma and improve health outcomes, we are currently prioritizing policies focused on youth, people involved in the justice system, people involved in the sex trade, and people who use substances, among others.
