Mission:
To educate community on policy pertaining to HIV and sexual health, and gather community perspectives to facilitate collaboration, inform future governmental activities, and modify existing ones.
Responsibilities:
Build awareness of proposed NYC and NYS legislation, regulations, and other policies relevant to the work of the HPG
Act as a bridge between city and state governmental agencies and the NYC communities affected by HIV
In an effort to reduce stigma and improve health outcomes, prioritize policies focused on communities most affected by HIV
JOIN US
The Policy and External Relations (PER) Workgroup aims to educate HPG members and the community more broadly on local, state, and federal legislation, regulations, and policies related to HIV and sexual health.
We gather community perspectives to inform the New York City Department of Health’s public policy efforts to end the local HIV epidemic, and act as a bridge between government and community stakeholders.
PER uses a racial equity, social justice, and anti-stigma approach to ensure more equitable HIV-related health outcomes for all New Yorkers.
